The Automatic Cannon is a weapon featured in Time Crisis 4.

Overview[]

As V.S.S.E. agents Giorgio Bruno and Evan Bernard chase down the truck on-board a helicopter piloted by Captain William Rush of the U.S. Internal Surveillance Group's Special Operations Division, Evan Bernard uses an automatic cannon to neutralize enemy opposition guarding the truck and interfering the mission to pursue it. Giorgio Bruno subsequently uses the same weapon to destroy enemy anti-aircraft vehicles and helicopters occupying an Air Force Base in Colorado, and stun Wild Dog when he used a grappling hook to snare onto the helicopter the V.S.S.E. agents are on.

Gameplay[]

The automatic cannon is a mounted variant of the standard grenade launcher, having the automatic fire capability (albeit with a slower firing rate) of the machine gun and a vehicle-only version of the heavy machine gun, only utilized during Stage 1 Area 2 and Stage 3 Area 1 in Time Crisis 4. In essence, it functions exactly like the machine gun incarnation in Time Crisis II, wherein it has unlimited ammo and it is later discarded once the player characters require a specialized weapon to take down a vehicle.

As it is a special weapon, the player cannot change to the automatic cannon in the weapon switching system introduced in Time Crisis 3, they have to discard the automatic cannon after its use.

Statistics[]

  • Rate of fire (rounds per second): 6
  • Special attributes: infinite ammo, available in certain sections
  • Ammunition appearance: black projectile with silver and brown casing

Advantages[]

  • Unlimited rounds
  • Fully-automatic, fires as long as the trigger is pulled
  • High damage output

Disadvantages[]

  • Only available on certain sections mentioned earlier, then discarded afterwards
  • Low rate of fire, making it hard to hit fast moving targets such as missiles if they are too close

Models[]

Each character used the same model of the automatic cannon throughout the series:

Trivia[]

Projectile fired from William Rush grenade launcher

Projectile fired from grenade launcher. Note the same stabilising fins and rocket nozzle found on the automatic cannon projectile

  • The classification that the game uses, "Automatic Cannon", is incorrect as the Mk 19 grenade launcher used by the V.S.S.E. agents is a Automatic Grenade Launcher (AGL). Oddly, the fired projectiles have stabilising fins and rocket nozzles. Both things are not present in projectiles fired from actual automatic grenade launchers and automatic cannons.
    • It is likely that the projectile model is taken from the grenade launcher projectile as it has the same stabilising fins and rocket nozzle.
  • The weapon model used is that of the mounted machine gun as evidenced by the perforations on the barrel support.
