The Sniper Rifle (スナイパーライフル Sunaipā Raifuru ) is a long-ranged weapon. It debuted in Time Crisis 3, and has appeared in subsequent Time Crisis games and the spin-off Razing Storm.
Overview[]
The sniper rifle is a long-ranged variant of a regular battle rifle, only obtained in certain gameplay sequences. Its use makes it only viable against targets in longer ranges, as most of the game's firefights take place at ranges where a sniper rifle would be not appropriate to the situation, hence its use by the player characters is not seen often compared to the standard weapons in the player's inventory.
V.S.S.E. agents Giorgio Bruno and Evan Bernard briefly used a sniper rifle inside a helicopter to disable a truck by shooting its back tires, next-generation agents Luke O'Neil and Marc Godart commandeered sniper rifles on their way towards Wild Dog's factory to eliminate the sentries posted there.
Use by Non-V.S.S.E. protagonists[]
Alicia Winston, a sharpshooter in Lukano Liberation Army used her bolt-action sniper rifle to great effect against Zagorias Federation Army sharpshooters wielding similar sniper rifles of their own. Both S.C.A.R. Alpha and Delta teams used semi-automatic sniper rifles as well.
Gameplay[]
The sniper rifle acts differently than most weapons in the player's standard arsenal as it requires the player aim down the scope (by getting out of cover) before firing, this will zoom the player's view to the location of where the player is aiming to, allowing to take down enemies from a long distance. It functions as a long range version to the handgun, firing one bullet at the player's crosshair at a slow rate. The sniper rifle itself usually contains a few rounds inside the magazine, however. There are certain exceptions to the amount of rounds it has, though. In Razing Storm Story Mode, this is the starting main weapon in Lixeira/Stage 3.
As it is a special weapon, the player cannot change to the sniper rifle in the weapon switching system introduced in Time Crisis 3, they have to discard the sniper rifle after its use. The exception is Razing Storm Story Mode which the player can choose to retain and use it until all ammunition runs out, or exchange it for another main weapon at certain points of the game.

Trivia[]
- The antagonists killed by sniper rifle bullets are Jake Hernandez and Paulo Guerra.
- Along with the submachine gun, the sniper rifle is the weapon available in all the Razing Storm Story Mode stages including the robot boss fight.
- In a Time Crisis 3 cutscene, a bullet casing ejected from sniper rifle has the Zagorias Federation Army logo.
- When Robert Baxter uses the sniper rifle if players fail the "Snipe Event", he is seen firing two consecutive shots without manually moving the bolt handle to eject the empty cartridge case between shots. This is despite the sniper rifle being a bolt-action type which requires an empty cartridge to be manually ejected after each shot.
