The Heavy Machine Gun (abbreviated to HMG) is a weapon featured in Time Crisis 4.
Overview[]
After disabling the truck, V.S.S.E. agents Giorgio Bruno and Evan Bernard commandeered a Heavy Machine Gun inside of it and used it to great effect against the oncoming Hamlin Battalion soldiers as well as Marcus Black. They later discarded the weapon when Black escapes after taking significant damage.
Gameplay[]
The Heavy Machine Gun is a heavy-duty version of the standard machine gun, only obtained in the third screen battle of Stage 1 Area 3. In essence, it functions exactly like the machine gun incarnation in Time Crisis II, where in it has unlimited ammo and it was later discarded once the player characters move to the next area.
As it is a special weapon, the player cannot change to the heavy machine gun in the weapon switching system introduced in Time Crisis 3, they have to discard the heavy machine gun after its use.

Trivia[]
- The classification that the game uses, "Heavy Machine Gun", is incorrect as the M249-E1 used by the V.S.S.E. agents is a Light Machine Gun (LMG). However, the cartridges chambered seem to be the 7.62 x 51 mm NATO (this can be seen if players switch to the machine gun just before the game changes the weapons players use. The machine gun cartridge is smaller than the heavy machine gun cartridge) which is used by a variant of the M249, the Mk 48. The Mk 48 is also not a "Heavy Machine Gun" but a General-Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG).
- Of all the screen battles, this is the only non-standard weapon used.
