Time Crisis was a cancelled webcomic based on Bandai Namco's rail shooter series of the same name. It was to be written by Marv Wolfman, produced by Cryptozoic Entertainment, illustrated by JJ Kirby, and released by ShiftyLook in June 2012.[1][2]
The webcomic was part of several efforts by ShiftyLook, a subsidary of Namco, to revitalize Time Crisis and other Namco game franchises. Aimed to replicate the action and story of the games, the Time Crisis webcomic was later cancelled for unknown reasons.
Despite this, Time Crisis was included in other ShiftyLook projects. Richard Miller from the original Time Crisis appeared in their crossover web game Namco High, as well as an episode of the webtoon Mappy with Keith Martin from Time Crisis II. ShiftyLook ultimately shut down on September 30, 2014.
Concept[]
Marv Wolfman described the Time Crisis webcomic as "a spy series with fifty shots of Red Bull". Each installment would have had three or four panels, aiming to replicate the fast pacing of the games. The main characters were two new members of the V.S.S.E. agency. Wolfman said that the Time Crisis series' signature ducking mechanic "would form a key part of the style of the story he [would] be telling".[2]
