The U.R.D.A. was a terrorist organization in Crisis Zone.

Plot[]

The U.R.D.A. was a rogue terrorist group which took over the recently-opened Garland Square in Crisis Zone on 16 October 2000.[1] Holding no hostages and making no demands for their reason for occupying the complex, the terrorist group allegedly took over the complex during closure hours to ensure no one would be allowed in the complex. This created a string of confusion within intelligence officials from all walks of life, including but not limited to the United Nations, the CIA, the M15, the British SAS, and the V.S.S.E..

With vague intel about the reason as to why the U.R.D.A. would occupy Garland Square with no hostages or demands, the Scotland Yard would work with the Special Tactical Force (S.T.F.) to suppress the vague threat before the U.R.D.A. can accomplish something, which was allegedly something that's up to no good, whatever it was.

Members[]

Derrick Lynch[]

  • Hometown: United States[1]

The original leader of the U.R.D.A.. He planned on overthrowing London by overheating an active nuclear reactor named Geyser 1 by destroying the city with its nuclear radiation. He was shot by the S.T.F. agents as he fell off the control room's broken window, hitting the still active nuclear reactor, effectively ending his wrath and killing him.

Tiger[]

  • Hometown: Unknown

One of the second-in-commands of the U.R.D.A. and a bodyguard of Derrick Lynch. Tiger was feared within the U.R.D.A. for his great strength, which he used to lift or toss heavy objects as weapons. The heaviest item he was seen lifting was a construction beam, which he used like a club. Tiger was also an accurate shot with an assault rifle. On defeat, Tiger attempted to throw a grenade at the S.T.F members but his partner Edge crashed into him while the pin was out, causing the grenade to blow both of them up.

Edge[]

  • Hometown: Unknown

Edge is one of the second-in-commands of the U.R.D.A. and a bodyguard for Derrick Lynch. Edge was once a student of ninjutsu until he was expelled for his violent tendencies. After this, Edge became a mercenary and eventually met Tiger, whom he befriended. After Derrick Lynch was arrested, Edge persuaded Tiger to help him break Lynch out of prison. After this, Lynch appointed Edge and Tiger as his lieutenants and bodyguards within the U.R.D.A.. In combat, Edge was a fearsome opponent, using wolverine-style melee blades which can also be thrown as projectiles via swinging them. He was also agile and fast, traits perfected during his days as a ninja-in-training. Edge was killed when he was blown up by a grenade along with his partner Tiger.

Jared Hunter[]

  • Hometown: Unknown

Derrick Lynch's second-in-command who led the U.R.D.A. remnants after Derrick's death. Attempting to seek revenge against "the S.T.F. Fools," Jared held the entire district of Grassmarket hostage and kidnapped Melissa Kessler as an insurance policy. On paper, Jared demands that all U.R.D.A. comrades impounded and incarcerated by British authorities released and safely returned to him in exchange for Melissa. In reality, he only cares about taking revenge against the S.T.F., the party he feels responsible for the downfall of Derrick Lynch's plans to destroy London. He was shot by the S.T.F. agents and his armed cruiser explodes, ending his wrath and killing him.

Types of Infantry[]

Arcade version[]

"Normal" class[]

Soldiers dressed in blue fatigues, body armor, night vision scopes, gas masks and yellow berets, and are armed with L85A1 assault rifles. They have low accuracy for most of the game except in Geyser 1 where they have high accuracy paring that to the red soldiers. A small number of them use shields which can be shot and destroyed (hits on the shield are not registered towards combo), and are armed with Steyr Mannlicher TMP submachine guns. In Garland Park, they can operate helicopters. There is an additional version dressed in khaki fatigues, body armor, night vision scopes, gas masks and navy green berets. They are similar to the normal soldiers in terms of accuracy but requires more shots to kill. This version does not appear in Geyser 1.

PlayStation 2 version[]

All classes of soldiers except "Paratroopers" do not appear in Crimson Beach (Crimson Sea in the PAL version). Additional details which a particular class of soldiers do not appear are stated in that respective soldier class. The number of hits are applicable on normal difficulty. On easy difficulty, dark blue and jungle fatigues "Normal" class soldiers; "Sharpshooter" class soldiers and "Paratroopers" each takes one less machine gun shot to kill, "Leader" class soldiers each takes two less machine gun shot to kill. Light blue fatigue "Normal" class soldiers and "Special Enemy" soldiers remain unchanged.

"Normal" class[]

There are two types of these soldiers. The first type are dressed in light blue fatigues, black combat boots, body armor, beige goggles and full face masks, and are armed with HK MP5A3 submachine guns. They each requires only 1 shot to kill but have high accuracy in Geyser 1, Grassmarket Street and Belforte Hotel. The second type are dressed in dark blue fatigues, black combat boots, body armor, yellow goggles and full face masks. They are equipped with ammunition pouches, a case box and armor on their left shoulder. They each requires 2 handgun shots, 6 machine gun shots (8 shots on double gun mode) or 3 shotgun hits to kill. A small number of them use shields which can be shot and destroyed (hits on the shield are registered towards combo). In Garland Park, they can operate helicopters. There are two additional versions of these soldiers. The first additional version is dressed in jungle fatigues of which their pants are not folded and have green armor plates over the front of their lower legs, green combat boots, body armor/load-bearing vests and combat helmets which are fitted with hoods (the hoods can be destroyed if continuously fired at the head, revealing ski masks). They are equipped with armor on their shoulders with the left armor different from the right, elbow and knee pads, and ammunition pouches. While they are similar to the normal soldiers in terms of accuracy, they each requires 6 handgun shots, 16 machine gun shots (24 shots on double gun mode) or 8 shotgun hits to kill (except the first three in Garland Technology Center who each requires 3 handgun shots, 9 machine gun shots (12 shots on double gun mode) or 5 shotgun hits to kill). One of them in the special story mode uses his weapon as a melee weapon when he is up close. This version does not appear in Geyser 1. The second additional version appears in the Stage Trial Mode and in Crisis Mission Select Weapon Zone 2 (there are 11 of them in the latter). They are identical to the light blue fatigue soldiers but dressed in yellow fatigues. Killing them gives 30,000 point bonus each in Score Stage Trial and Crisis Mission, and subtracts 5 seconds each from total time spent in Time Stage Trial.

"Leader" class[]

Soldiers dressed in black fatigues, black combat boots, white body armor, white armor plates over their lower arms and legs, and white full face masks. They are equipped with large telecommunication tools carried on their backs, and ammunition pouches, and are armed with HK MP5A3 submachine guns. While slower than the other classes, they each requires 8 handgun shots, 20 machine gun shots (30 shots on double gun mode) or 10 shotgun hits to kill, can still fire even when hit and can use their weapons as melee weapons when they are up close. Those in Geyser 1 each requires 5 handgun shots, 12 machine gun shots (18 shots on double gun mode) or 6 shotgun hits to kill. There is an additional version who only appear in the Special Story Mode. They are dressed in black fatigues, equipped with large telecommunication tools carried on their backs, brown body armor, brown armor plates over their lower arms and legs, and brown full face masks. There is only one each in all the stages except Geyser 1 and Crimson Beach (Crimson Sea in the PAL version). Killing them gives the player extra weapons for a limited time. However, they will escape after a period of time which the player will proceed the normal route if that happens.

They are equipped with ammunition pouches, a case box and armor on their left shoulder, and are armed with HK MP5A3 submachine guns. They have the same endurance as the dark blue fatigue soldiers but their first shot is always accurate. Unlike the Arcade version, they appear in Geyser 1.

"Special Enemy"[]

Soldiers dressed in short-sleeved red shirts, green pants folded in military style with brown belts that have gold buckles around their waists, black combat boots, black fingerless gloves, body armor on the chest area, gas masks and full face masks. They are equipped with hip holsters around the abdomen area for their Mk 2 hand grenades and sheaths containing knives on each pant leg. They each requires 3 handgun shots, 8 machine gun shots (12 shots on double gun mode) or 4 shotgun hits to kill [except the only one in Garland Technology Center who requires 2 handgun shots, 4 machine gun shots (6 shots on double gun mode) or 2 shotgun hits to kill]. There are two categories of these soldiers:

"Paratroopers"[]

Soldiers dressed in dark blue fatigues, white body armor, white armor plates over their lower arms and legs, and white breathing helmets that have telecommunication tools inside. They are armed with HK MP5A3 submachine guns and have high maneuverability when the jetpacks are used. They are similar to the "Leader" class soldiers in terms of accuracy and their endurance is equivalent to that of jungle fatigue soldiers. They only appear in two stages of the special story mode, Belforte Hotel and Crimson Beach (Crimson Sea in the PAL version). There is an additional version who only appear in the Stage Trial Mode. They are dressed in gray fatigues, orange body armor, orange armor plates over their lower arms and legs, and orange breathing helmets. Killing them gives 30,000 point bonus each in Score Stage Trial and subtracts 5 seconds each from total time spent in Time Stage Trial.

Other Weapons[]

  • An infantry fighting vehicle resembling a M2 Bradley appears in Drycreek Plaza where it rams into the building. It is armed with a M242 chain gun but fires charged shots instead of full auto fire, a M134 Minigun mounted on top of the turret, dual BGM-71 TOW missile launchers on the sides of the turret, three machine guns on the sides of the hull, two missile launchers and two M61 Vulcan Gatling cannons inside the hull. In the Arcade version except on very easy difficulty, the rear ramp opens while the chain gun charges up for the second shot, causing two "Normal" class soldiers to leave the vehicle. In the PlayStation 2 version, the number of road wheels on each side is six instead of five.
  • A large attack helicopter resembling a Boeing–Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche appears in Garland Park. It is armed with a XM301 three-barrelled Gatling cannon, two retractable missile launchers firing four missiles each on the sides, two large missiles which are only used for destroying the open linkways of a floating pavilion and never used against the player; and a bomb bay for dropping small bombs. Its rotors can be utilized to try and cut the player. In the PlayStation 2 version, it resembles a Mil Mi-24 with the tail fin facing down and armed with the same weapons like its Arcade counterpart. It also appears in Crisis Mission Special Weapon Zone 4 and Extra Weapon Zone 3 only to fire missiles for the player to destroy (the former may be possible since it happens at Garland Technology Center which the helicopter may be hovering around but the latter is impossible according to in-game events since it happens at the rooftop of Belforte Hotel which the helicopter was destroyed six months prior).
  • Gyro helicopters appear in Garland Park and are armed with a M197 three-barrelled Gatling cannon. In the Arcade version, they have two types of camouflage. The first is yellow-green which there are seven units and except for the third unit which requires 22 shots to destroy, each requires 16 shots to destroy. The second is red which there are two units. Like the "sharpshooter" class soldiers and "leader" class soldiers, the red gyro helicopters have high accuracy and each requires 25 shots to destroy. In the PlayStation 2 version, they have only one camouflage, resemble the large attack helicopter and each requires 11 handgun shots, 30 machine gun shots (44 shots on double gun mode) or 15 shotgun hits to destroy.
  • Experimental stealth defense droid Meta Morphic A-0940 appears in Grassmarket Street where it ambushes Claude McGarren while in stealth mode. Subsequently, it attacks him while still in that mode and eventually loses its stealth camouflage after taking sufficient damage. It uses four feet for movement. It has a laser cannon as its main armament with missile launchers, four small laser irradiators, one large laser irradiator, machine guns and Gatling guns as secondary armaments.
  • An armed cruiser is used by Jared Hunter as a means to escape from the S.T.F. after being defeated at Belforte Hotel. It is armed with Gatling guns, missile launchers and laser cannons.

Trivia[]

  • U.R.D.A. is stated to be an acronym, but its meaning is never stated in-game or in other source material.
